Trip Description & Day-by-day Itinerary
Buon Ma Thuot Tour is a private guided itinerary starting from Nha Trang, taking you to Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province, Vietnam central highlands where you visit beautiful waterfalls, ride an elephant and experience the rich ethnic culture of the M’nong.
DAY 1: NHA TRANG -> BUON MA THUOT -> BAN DON
8.00 am: you will be picked up by our local driver at your hotel in Nha Trang. Depart for Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province. Buon Ma Thuot is a small but busy place. With a population of about 300,000, it is home to ethnic minorities like the Jarai and Rhade peoples. The place is historically relevant because it was the site of the last major confrontation between the North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese armies back in March 1975. These days, however, Buon Ma Thuot is better known for its coffee.
Upon arrival, you will be met up with your local guide for city tour briefing, then have lunch in local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you are brought to Don village that is known for the land of elephants. Explore the legend of traditional wild elephant catching and taming of the M’nong ethnic group. Visit ancient wooden stilt house, is made in laotian architecture. Visit the tomb of the King of elephant catchers before taking a walk on the suspension bamboo bridge. Ride an elephant for 1 hour. Dinner and Overnight in a bungalow in Ban Don.
DAY 2: BAN DON -> DRAY SAP WATERFALL -> NHA TRANG
After breakfast, you travel back to Buon Ma Thuot. You will have the chance to visit some of the most impressive waterfalls in Vietnam Central Highlands. The first one we will visit is Dray Sap. Water falls down from a high cliff, making the water become mist which looks like smoke. In Ede language, “Dray Sap” means “Smoke Waterfall”.
The same Dray Sap, Dray Nu waterfall is created by the Krong Kno river. Water passes through steep cliffs, making the waterfall majestic.
Visit Buon Ma Thuot’s bustling regional market. You can buy some souvenirs before being picked up by your car and brought back to Nha Trang. Trip ends.
